Are Internet Resources really more than we can handle? After this week I say NO. Internet Resources are just more. More information, more ideas, more technology, more way that we as teachers can educate our students. Children are being introduced to technology in school, home even activites at church at a very early age. I dont remember a TEKS for computer technology when I was in elementary 30 years. Times are changing and teachers need to be well educated and informed on the ways to teach technology.
I have to say that I am not computer literate so searching or using websites have always been difficult for me. I could never figure out exactly how to sift through all the wrong information that kept coming up. The internet for me was too much information just out there without any order to me it looked like just someone ideas or business. Well this week I learned about syntax ("", -,+) the basic short cut for internet usage. So now I can figure out how to see just what I need. It feels like I have conquered the world, in way I have. I now have the whole world at my finger tips and I can find and see it all. I visited some many interesting, educating and fun websites that would be very useful with my EQ: How does physical activity and health effect our lives?
Some that I am sure I will use is:
Internet Search Engine:
To Search just type Physical Activity or Health in box and see what comes up. Click on the Google Search, Yahoo.com and Answer.com search the web for pages that are relevant to your query.
The Learning goals it would address is children would learn to Keyword Search, Refine your search, Rank Relevance, Concept based searching.
Instruction needed: I could give children some search engines to use and find information on what is physical activity and find examples. I could ask them to find information on how to keep healthy.
E-mail Keypals and Interactive E-mail Projects
Learning goals it would address: It would be a great way for classrooms to connect with other classroom and see the ideas they had on Physical Activity and what they listed as Healthy Habits Instruction needed: Student would be given a question regarding ideas of good and healthy foods. Student would interact with other students around the world and see their ideas.
This week as opened my eyes to so many other ideas and technology that I want to incorporate in my lesson planning.
