Today I toured into my possible future

The secret of good teaching is to regard the children's intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds may be sown, to grow under the heat of flaming imagination. Our aim therefore is not merely to make the children understand, and still less to force them to memorize, but so to touch their imagination as to enthuse them to their innermost core..."
-Dr. Maria Montessori

Now that I have visited the Corpus Christi Montessori school, I can see how Dr. Maria Montessori thought school should be taught. It is a wonderful way for students to learn, the environment was so calm and accepting.
CCMS is a dual-language charter school that is funded solely by the state.

They say first impression last a lifetime. Well... I think that's true, especially this case. This is an experience that keeps playing back in my head. Could I be a teacher here? Answer: YES. I could see myself there definitely. I loved everything about it. Crystal also loved her visit to this school. I think she found her calling. Take a look at her blog on this experience.

This is an experience that I might want to venture a little further than this class takes me. Like maybe doing my field based observation here. I truly enjoyed the atmosphere. The two doves when you first walk to me symbolized the peace and love this school is all about. The tour of the school was a great inspiration, an eye-opening experience to an alternate way of teaching. I loved it. The classroom didn't feel like classroom, it was like a room in a home you had just walked into. It was great, children were sitting on individual mats doing their work. They helped each. The classes were not arranged by strict guidelines as 1st grade in one room, 2nd grade in other, but were in groups, (1-3rd and 4th-6th). It was like a family helping each other.
Crystal and I are going to have a great experience, working with our selected student.
